What is crystal?

Optical crystal is made by melting sand, soda ash, and limestone together at a very high temperature.  Unlike some other types of crystal, optical crystal contains no lead, which makes it an extremely hard and durable material that can withstand polishing, cutting, and beveling to create brilliant edges. Through the manufacturing process, air bubbles, inclusions, and flaws are removed, so your customized crystal gift will be as perfect and brilliant as it is enduring.

How do you make a 3 dimensional image from a 2 dimensional photo?

Crystal Magic uses a sophisticated computer software program to model a 3D design from your photograph. Our creative team then etches this design into our top-quality optical crystal using state-of-the-art laser technology.

CREATING AND CARING FOR YOUR CUSTOM CRYSTAL

What kinds of images can I use to create my personalized 3D crystal?

Crystal Magic's creative team can work with almost any image. We can turn photographs, corporate logos, business cards, and other designs into unique, one-of-a-kind gifts and mementos.

What file types do you accept?

We can create your unique personalized crystal from almost any digital image format: JPG, JPEG and PNG.  You can upload files of up to 5 MB to our web site on the Customize page. GIF files tend to be small and do not produce good results, so we do not recommend them.

What kinds of photographs create the best 3D crystal images?

A good quality photo will produce a good quality 3D crystal image.   Make sure your photo is clear, well lit, and in high resolution.  Good contrast will create the best visual texture for your photo crystal. Depending on the size of crystal you choose, your photo can include anywhere from 1 to 6 people.  The closer the shot, the more stunning the detail of your personalized photo crystal will be. If possible, choose a photograph that does not need to be enlarged, since small photos can lose detail when they are made larger.

Can I add text to my customized crystal gift?

Absolutely! As you complete the order process, you'll have an opportunity to add a name, date, or other text. If you want it placed in a particular place on your crystal, just let us know in the comment box that appears on the Customize page.

Can you engrave my company logo into a crystal?

Yes.  Generally, simple logos and graphics work best. If your logo involves complex colour gradients or 2 dimensional illustrations of 3 dimensional objects, our 3D designer can work with you to create something that can be successfully lasered in 3 dimensions. 

What is the best way to display my personalized crystal?

To bring out the full beauty of your photo crystal, we recommend an LED lighted base. These bases will bring your crystal to life and highlight the incredible detail in both daylight and darkness. We carry a full range of these bases, specially designed to highlight our crystal selections.

How do I care for my crystal?

Your Crystal Magic Designs 3D crystal will provide a lifetime of enjoyment, and will never fade or discolor. To keep your crystal sparkling, simply polish it with a soft, clean cloth or micro fiber towel.  If necessary, you can also use any common glass cleaner to remove surface dirt and then polish the crystal with a soft, dry cloth. Crystal is fragile, so use care when handling your personalized crystal creation.

Do you have a showroom?

Yes! You are welcome to come visit us at our showroom and studio in Richmond Hill, Ontario, where we will be pleased to answer your questions and take your order on-site.

Can I order more than one item at a time, each with a different photo or image?

Absolutely! Simply upload your first picture and select the shape, size, text, and font you want. Select Add to Cart after you complete your first crystal design; you'll have the option to keep shopping from there.

How can I be sure that you received my order?

We will confirm your order via email. We will also send you a follow-up email when your personalized crystal has been shipped from our studio, and provide you with the Canada Post tracking number for your order.

How long will it take for my personalized custom crystal to arrive?

We'll need just 3 to 5 business days to create your personalized crystal gift. As soon as it is ready, we ship it through Canada Post and send you the tracking number so you can follow the progress of your package.

After your crystal has been produced and packaged, you will receive a notification inlcuding a Tracking number.  You will be able to link to Canada Posts' website and track the progress of your shipment. 

How do I cancel my order?

You can cancel your order without penalty as long as we have not started processing it.  If we are early in the processing phase, we may still be able to cancel your order for a small fee. We start processing orders very soon after we receive them, so please get in touch with us immediately for cancellations.   Call or email Crystal Magic Designs’ Customer Service at 905-597-7737 or  info@crystalmagicdesigns.com.

What forms of payment do you accept?

You can pay for your personalized photo crystal online using  Visa or Mastercard. To pay with cash, please visit our showroom and studio.

How is my personalized crystal creation packed for shipping?

Your personalized crystal creation will arrive carefully packed in an elegant cushioned box that not only protects it during shipping, but is also a sophisticated gift box for your unique keepsake.

What shipping methods are available?

Crystal Magic Designs uses Canada Post business shipping tools.  They provide the best service for the lowest price.  You can choose from any option Canada Post makes available to your shipping destination, including; Priority Courier, Expidited and Regular.  Times range from 3-7 business days. After your crystal has been produced and packaged, you will receive a notification inlcuding a Tracking number.  You will be able to link to Canada Posts' website and track the progress of your shipment.

Is international shipping available?

Yes.  Canada Post ships all over the world and so do we.

Can I place a rush order?

Our normal processing time is 3 to 5 business days.  While rush orders cannot be processed through our web site at this time, we invite you to contact us directly to make special arrangements if necessary.

I am purchasing a personalized photo crystal as a gift. Can you ship it directly to the recipient?

Absolutely. Just let us know in the Special Instructions section on the Customize page and we'll ship the gift directly to the recipient without including a receipt that shows the price you paid.

Has my order been shipped?

When your order is shipped from our studio, we will send you an email that includes your Canada Post tracking number. You can use that number to track the progress of your package online through the Canada Post web site.

Is there Duty on items shipped to the United States?

Yes..the US customs agency charges a duty on Crystals of 7.2% of the value and a duty on lighted bases of 2%. We are not able to prepay the duty so we will offer a promo code to all US customers. Please email us at info@crystalmagicdesigns.com after receiving your order and include your order # and we will email a promo code for 10% off your next purchase.

Do you guarantee your work?

We stand behind our personalized photo crystals, and are confident that you will be delighted with the quality of our product. All crystals are carefully inspected before they leave our studio and are guaranteed to be free of manufacturing errors or defects.

What is your return policy?

Personalized photo crystals can be returned for refund or replacement in the event of a manufacturing error or defect within 30 days of receipt. Returned items must be in their original condition and packaging.  We regret that we cannot offer refunds on shipping costs. Your personalized 3D photo crystal will be processed exactly as you order it.  Please check spelling, dates, and names carefully when you place your order, as we cannot be responsible for such errors.

What kinds of photographs create the best 3D crystal images and what file type do you accept?

For best results, use a clear, well-lit photo in high resolution that has good contrast. To upload your photo browse your pictures, select one you would like to upload and click ‘ok’. Upload JPG, JPEG, or PNG files of up to 5 MB.  GIF files tend to be small and are not recommended.

What styles and sizes of crystal do you offer? How many people can you have in a crystal?

Crystal style and size has an impact on how many people you can have in your image.

How do I want my photo to appear in my crystal?

Choose a vertical (Portrait) or horizontal (Landscape) orientation for how the image will appear in your crystal. Heart and Prestige shapes are only available in Portrait by default.

Can I add text to my crystal?

You can include a short one line message in your crystal.  Please double-check spelling and dates carefully! If you want your text to appear in a particular place on the crystal, let us know in the Special Instructions box below.  Otherwise, our creative team will place it where we think it fits best.

 

How do I display my crystal so it shows best?

An optional add-on, an LED lighted base will really showcase your crystal and highlight its incredible detail. We offer two styles to complement any decor:  Our Classic Black Base, made of high-quality molded black plastic, and our Premium Satin Finish Wood Base. The size of your crystal, as well as whether you have chosen Portrait or Landscape, will determine the appropriate size for your base.  The system will automatically show you only the right size for the crystal you are creating.
